The Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of the National Observatory of Athens invites applications for 1 PhD position on characterizing evolved, dusty massive stars in nearby galaxies.

The aim of the project is to determine whether episodic mass loss is a dominant process in the evolution of the most massive stars. Applicants with previous experience in stellar astrophysics and in particular massive stars, modeling with stellar evolution codes or stellar atmosphere or radiative transfer codes, and/or the analysis of spectroscopic data are particularly encouraged to apply. The duration of the position will be 3 years and the net monthly salary will be 900 euros (scholarship).

The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated and able to work within a diverse team. The candidate will work under the supervision of the PI, Dr. A. Bonanos. A MSc in (astro)physics or a related field is required.
